Gaël Monfils was the newest discovery of the 2008 edition of the French Internationals at Roland Garros by making it to the semi-finals but then losing to the world-number-one Roger Federer.
As a skilled player on clay courts, he participated in the Open des Jeunes, in the year 2000 at the Stade Francais.
At 18 years old, he accumulated a considerable amount of victories in the junior category. Among his accomplishments, he took home the title for 2004 World Junior Champion and participated in the Grand Slams among which the Australian Open and England's Wimbledon. All that's missing from his many achievements is competing in the U.S. Open, which he might just win considering his current momentum!
